What to do if you have email problems!



If you get a message "server not found", when you attempt to send or receive email:
  • Verify your computer is connected to the Internet.
  • Verify your DNS settings are valid.
If your computer is connected and your DNS settings are valid, then check you email settings:
  • Set Incoming (POP3) server to: mail.excell.net
  • Set Outgoing (SMTP) server to: mail.excell.net
  • Set Account name to: email_name@excell.net (as provided in your account setup information)
    Business clients should use their domain name in place of "excell.net".
  • Set (email) password to: password (as provided in your account setup information).
If you are using Outlook Express
We recommend you download and install the newest version of Internet Explorer (includes Outlook Express) and critical updates from http://www.microsoft.com. Windows users: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
  • Open Outlook Express
  • Click on Tools
  • Click on Accounts
  • Click on Mail
  • Highlight your email account
  • Click on Properties
  • Click on Servers and verify the following settings:
  • My incoming mailserver is a POP3 server
  • Incoming mailserver: mail.excell.net
  • Outgoing mailserver: mail.excell.net
  • Account name (full email address, all lower case) - provided to you by Excell.Net
  • Password (case sensitive) - provided to you by Excell.Net
  • Check box to remember password
  • Check the box for My outgoing mailserver requires authentication
  • Click on Settings
  • Choose: Use same settings as incoming mailserver
  • Click Ok
  • Click Ok
  • Close

If you are using Netscape Mail
We recommend you download and install the newest version of Netscape from http://www.netscape.com.

  • Open Netscape Mail
  • Click on Edit
  • Verify your account name is entered as your full email address in lower case
  • Click on Mail &Newsgroup Account Settings
  • Click on Outgoing Mailserver and verify the following settings:
  • Server name: mail.excell.net
  • Check the box for "Use name and password"
  • Be sure your full email address is entered for the User Name
  • Click on Server Settings and verify the following settings
  • Server name: mail.excell.net
  • User name: your full email address in lower case should be entered
